St. Maria

Biel, 2024
Last project in the historic St. Maria Church in Biel. At the top of the church’s bell tower, we conducted a damage analysis of water infiltration. The primary structure of the old beam layer, where the clockwork is mounted, was reinforced with new beams in a sandwich construction and new chemically anchored supports on the wall. Although many components were infested with fungus, only the necessary parts were completely replaced, and the rest were doubled up to preserve the historical value of the building. We also carried out a fungus treatment with Arbosan. The ceiling of the church hall below was newly supported by the reinforcements. It was a fascinating project that allowed us to combine preservation with modern techniques.
